My favourites are probably the astonishing Analogs 1 and 2, which contain some of his most haunting melodies. In fact, the series is a real high point in his catalogue. The Chosen Lords compilation, whilst good, doesn't really do the series justice at all.
This is what my dad told me when I was a teenager. He was frustated at my complete immersion in music and felt that I should be educating myself more through art and literature. He was wrong. I'm pretty sure we've all learnt a LOT by listening to music. From the remarkable to the trivial, here's some of the things that music taught me.
AFX - Analord
For me, the 11 disc Analord series contains some of Aphex Twin's finest moments.
i missed out on the blink and you'll miss it original release of Analord 10 (with binder for the rest of the collection) as I wasn't as immersed in the internet as I am now. But buying the series in-store from Boomkat/Pelicanneck (I can't recall when they changed their name) throughout the first half of 2005 in installments of 1 or 2, became a monthly ritual for me.
